Thank you to all the instructors for changing my life in so many amazing ways. -Jade

Mayyada fell into belly dance in 2002 and never looked back. She began her love affair with the dance form studying and performing with DC-based dancer and performer Najwah, and was also a founding member of the eclectic-fusion-belly dance troupe Benat Baharat, which performed privately and publicly around the DC area.

In her style evolution, Mayyada continued to be drawn to classical Egyptian stylings, beginning studies with Faten Salama and finally landing at Saffron Dance studying with Saphira. Over the years, Mayyada has studied with Aziza, Bozenka, Raqia Hassan, Randa Kamal, Mohamed el Hosseny, Mohamed Shahin, and many more. At Saffron Dance, Mayyada was a founding member of the Maqsoum Performance Company, and the first director of the Malfouf Student Company.

Mayyada is amazed and inspired by the changes that belly dance can bring to the womens' movement and outlook, and is continually inspired by the students at Saffron Dance.
